L'histoire du Trimaran "Flâneur" à la Trinité
sur Mer |

 |
After completing the equipment of our first "Flâneur",
a 34' monohull, we casted off from Ouistreham (Normandy) in 1979
for a sail trip of 6 years, 3 years in the Méditerranean
countries and 3 years in the Atlantic.
Our first ocean crossing led us to the Carribean Islands. To earn
our living, we worked in the different stopovers (Port-Vendres in
Southern France, Corfou in Greece, Ajaccio in Corsica, Guadeloupe
and Miami).
That long honeymoon proved us that we had made a good choice and
our new way of life was on a sailboat..
But after 6 years wandering came the idea of starting a family,
the boat quickly appeared too small for the purpose...

|
|
So we sold our boat after one year in the U.S.A and came back to
France with the plans of a new "Flâneur",
much much bigger, a CROSS 46 TRIMARAN 15mx8m. That construction,
from A à Z, took us 4 years in the "port à sec"
of Martigues, near Marseille.
Meanwhile our first son "Philippe" was born in 1987 "between
2 layers od fiberglass"....
We launch the second "Flâneur" in 1990 : A
great moment !
|
 |
 |
Then we start a wonderful stay in
Corsica, 4 years day-chartering in summer and finishing the cabins
inside "Flâneur" in winter.
In 1993 we fly to Tahiti for two months and come back on the boat
with our second child, adopted in Papeete: "Moana".
Then in 1994, we leave Corsica to resume our saiing with our new boat
and new family, Philippe is 7 and Moana 1 1/2 years old. Philippe
follows school with correspondence school: CNED.
|
We sail to theCanaries, then again across the Atlantic to the West
Indies. Big Surprise ! Sylvie expects a new baby, a true miracle
that nobody believed in. But for medical reasons, it's not so easy
ans we have to leave the boat in Martinique and fly back to France
for almost a year.
We go back to a "normal" life in a house for a while,
Philippe is happy to go back to a real school, with friends ans
play football.

So Fanny, our third child and first daughter, was born in Caen
(Normandy) in 1995.
When she is 6 months old, we fly back to the boat and sail around
from Venezuala to Bahamas. Those islands are a paradise for sailing!
Philippe returns to his studies but appreciates less and less.
In 1997, we decide to sail back to France, life on board becoming
more and more difficult with 3 children..
We arrive in Brittany in July 97 ans start looking for a harbour
for Flâneur and a place to charter : we find La Trinité
sur Mer. It's a wonderful place and an ideal spot to sail to the
islands.
We start again chartering for 6 years, until 2003.
Finally we decide to sell our boat to start building 3 gîtes
to which we have given the names of 3 of our favorite islands: Belle-île,
Houat and Hoëdic hoping thus to continue in a way the activity
of "Flâneur", welcoming the holidaymakers that come
to discover our beautiful area.

Our boat was bought by a friend of ours, a professionnal
diver we had met in corsica, our friend had crossed the Atlantic twice
with us.
We are happy to know that "Flâneur" has resume his
sailig around the world in warm waters since he is now chartering
in Madagascar.
Don't worry for us, we still profit by the sea, we live 200 m from
it and have now a small sailboat that gives us a lot of pleasure. |
